What Do you Think?

Some people say that studying ART must be a very easy thing:

‘U JUST DO/CREATE WHATEVER COMES TO YOUR MIND’ or the best one I’ve heard:

 ‘ARE YOU STUDYING TO BECOME AN ARTIST? YOU POOR THING! DON’T YOU CARE THAT YOUWONT EARN ANY MONEY?’

Well people, ART is not that easy! Being an artist is not easy! For an artist, to produce something for you to find in a shop and buy it that means he made his artefacts special and unique, therefore you notice them, and you BUY them! That, for an artist is an achievement.

Being more accurate, my art is BlacKsmithing (Metalwork and Jewellery), handmade pieces. Obviously being in university you have to follow certain stages to produce a final piece. That is what I am doing at the moment. Don’t want to be boring, just want you to understand where i come from and what i believe before entering the very exciting world of blacksmithing.

What i understood, is that if you don’t work hard, research, develop, experiment, practice you go nowhere. You have to get to know your art (whatever it is), get familiar with it, and apply it. It is exciting! You learn so much, you start thinking differently, you observe more!

It is a shame what some people believe or think they know about art. Or what is like to be an artist. 

 What do u think?  Do you think that the word ART is being used wrong?  Do you think that being an artist is bad luck? Or are you thankful that art exists?

 Metalwork then, is the process of working with metals to create individual parts, assemblies, or large scale structures. There is a wide range of work from large ships, bridges and oil refineries to delicate jewellery. But the most amazing thing about blacksmithing is that you get a rough metal bar and once you heat it you can transform it into anything!

With this blog I hope to meet people that share the same passion with me! Or people that want to get to know blacksmithing or even giving me advice..
